Preamble

The Charter will open with a concise explanation of why it is necessary and urgent.

Example (this is boilerplate language for YOU to improve on!):

Compassion is a key and universal value in all faiths. The most urgent task of our time is to build a global community around this idea, where all peoples of the world can live together in harmony, appreciation and mutual respect. If we fail to achieve this, it is unlikely that we will have a viable world to hand on to the next generation. We believe that the religions of the world have a unique contribution to make and that is why we have issued this Charter for Compassion.

We, The Caretakers of Earth agree to disagree in our perception of Creation and God. Whether through faith or myth, Angels inspire the mind of a child even in the eldest in all cultures; The warmth of protection and trust knows no manipulation in sincerity and compassion. We hold highest standards for those who lead us in mindful evidence and personal experience promoting hope, visions of Peace, Freedom and Equality for all. In time, life teaches an end to fear and internal turmoil, the angers of youth diminish, a surrender to the Unknown, whether God, or Powers beyond human understanding--ensues. We The Caretakers of Earth choose wisdom in guidance from Cultural Leaders, Elders, Nobel Laureates, Scientists and Spiritual Teachers in compassionate decisions regarding our Earth, our Nations, our Fellow Human Beings. We the Caretakers of Earth with Compassion, lay aside our differences to save our species, owning, "There is no ME, only WE". The WE of Humanity, Earth, Oxygen, Water, Oceans, Plants, Wildlife, Forests, Earth and the innocent to be honored and respected, as are humans. We The Caretakers of Earth seek only compassionate, most qualified with merit, study, and history from which to draw global reasoning and insight. Let us commit to restructure systems that fail, to represent humanity with ONLY the most compassionate, most balanced, fair in distribution of global resources, and peaceful respect of nations. We the Caretakers of Earth promise to do what is necessary to save our children's world, keep families in homes, provide compassion and empathy, promote peaceful enjoyment and demand high standards from leaders of fellow man, committed to ending rewarding the few for exploitation of the many.

1. Compassion is the ability to understand that if One suffers, ALL will suffer, because humanity must exist within the guidelines of all universal laws of balance and relatedness; if universal truths of math, geometry, physics, astronomy, and molecular biology are accurate, then one can use these truths to create a logical framework for harmlessness. 2. Imagine standing at the walls of a sacred PYRAMID; this is a 1x dimensional perspective of this structure (SELF); now imagine what a pyramid looks like from the top, from a higher 'bird's eye' view (COLLECTIVE PERCEPTION) From here, one can see the following: a. The center point exists for all sides, at every angle b. The center point connects ALL sides c. No 'side' can be greater or smaller or the pyramid will fall d. No side can be harmed or destroyed, or the pyramid will fall 3. From this mathematical perception of compassion, it becomes illogical to view life by the limited framework of 'right' vs. 'wrong'; instead, we begin to understand that compassion responds to the universal notions of: WHAT WORKS (binary math, universal truth, balance) vs. WHAT DOES NOT WORK (non-universal laws, limited, one-dimensional perception, and imbalance)---Greed, envy, pride, hate, fear, harm, or arrogance will never work for anyONE, because they will never work for the ALL. 4. Compassion in Latin means, "with patience" (timeless, unconditional understanding), which is what we must offer one another at all times. By being patient, wisdom leads us to the universal notion that WE ARE all down here, each LEARNING THE SAME LESSONS, but learning them AT DIFFERENT TIMES. Compassion allows ALL to travel this road of enlightenment, with patience and collective perception as our guides, because compassion offers us system that WORKS for ALL. Compassion offers everyone a light on the path of enlightenment, the path that leads us to the end of suffering.

Once we have organized as global citizens, we have fundamental problems to address- Hatred and intolerance present in the community, and they have loud voices. Population growth is beginning to seriously damage the earth, CO2 emissions are causing temperature changes, and oil production is shrinking. Fertilizer use is causing dead zones in the ocean, which is running out of fish. In twenty five years, food and water will be hard to provide for the ballooning population. Poverty, intolerance, hatred, and violence are pervasive in our global community. All of these problems in our community, and many others, will get worse if we don’t address them now, compassionately.

Love has no meaning if war still thrives. pain has no meaning if peace can survive. Words have meaning if you dont open your eyes. words have meaning if you dont open your mouth. truth rides on lies that have no trust lies grab onto truth and want trust forgiveness to the hurt heart death to the war that will never start life to the peace that live within the heart we the people earth, we the people of our race, the human race, life love determination to keep our earth moving into the future. Our babies are our seeds, let the tree of life grow teach, and speak, the goods with the bad.

At the beginning of the twenty-first century, an important change went largely unnoticed. We, the people of the Earth, were empowered like never before. We are now able to control our own destiny, because it is economically and logistically feasible to organize globally. We have established a global community. Therefore, it is critical that we, the people of the Earth, organize for the common good, because we are responsible for the quality of our community.

Compassion, the desire to alleviate the suffering of others, is among the finest qualities which humanity possesses. Compassion is the fundamental principle which a community is founded on, because the suffering of one person in the community is suffering to the whole community.

Through most of human history, societies have strived for homogeneity- lines were drawn between race, religion, gender, and social status. The brave who crossed the line felt resistance and rejection, but their sacrifice was not futile, because these lines are disappearing. Sadly, resistance to this disappearance has turned to a militarization of hatred and intolerance on all sides. Paradoxically, hatred cannot be defeated with more hate, compassion is required.

Words are but colors inside a box. relaese them and draw. each has its own diverse meaning within the picture drawn, as a whole the greater, as single, the thought. words can explain the intent given, whether a racist word or a joyful one. color the words you speak and you draw the picture you seek. it all in the words. if silent world come to us then great smile on. but the nosie is here so choose your words wisely.

Compassion, while categorized as an emotion, is an action that is a pure expression of one's inner landscape. The degree of sincere compassion expressed is in direct ratio to what we can label as one's spiritual awareness. As you gain in understanding the world around you and understand your connectedness with other humans, melded with your intuition and sensibilities, you naturally become more and more compassionate. A Charter for Compassion links us globally with other aware individuals who are ready to share with others their understanding and love for the dynamic benefit of all.

We, the people of this globe, commit ourselves to lives of compassion. As imperfect beings, we can consciously choose actions of selfishness; these actions are harmful to ourselves, our global neighbors, and our planet. As social beings, we can consciously choose actions of selflessness; these actions are the seeds of positive growth in ourselves, our global neighbors, and our planet. In order to ensure this growth in our individual and collective lives and those of future generations, it is our conscious choice to always act with the universal and powerful value of compassion--regardless of our beliefs, faiths, nationalities, or privileges.

Most have the capacity for compassion and empathy and those who do will gladly participate in a Charter For Compassion. Unfortunately many charismatic individuals find ways to lead and control the masses through leadership, and eventual military control and power. Hoarding, intimidation and fear are the trademarks, red flags associated with narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths, who have little ability to 'feel compassion' toward living things, or their fellow man. It is a clinical improbability to expect of them compassion and empathy, or to force it upon them. They are who they are. If a Charter for Compassion exists, it would be good to formulate a system to erradicate, or prevent these individuals from holding powerful positions, lest all this hard work will be in vain. All the world's problems with war, hatred and violence lead back to this issue. One may be distraught, violent, angry, depressed, but still may have the capacity for compassion, thankfully this aberrant trait is only within about 3% of the human population. We humans are 98.5% chimpanzee, genetically, I think these are fairy good odds, considering.

We, the Citizens of the World issue this Charter of Compassion in redefinition of the word 'Self' to include the 'All'. We shall not surrender to Selection as the fate of Evolution. We hereby re-declare the importance of Symbiosis in an age driven by Competition. Competition drives change, Compassion ensures progress.

We, the Citizens of the World recognize that the many cannot be understood through the one, but only the one through the many. The route to the One is through compassion. This is the Unity of the Infinite.

Compassion for all in the world is compassion for ourselves. We cannot be separated, the world has grown small~All that which is felt toward, done to others will comes back to embrace or hit us in the backside.

We, the Citizens of the World, recognize the notion that man is the highest form of interdependent organicity as an ignorant, and arrogant self-fulfilling deception. We issue this Charter of Compassion as the bridge to a new age where every man can be all powerful without intruding on that of another.

Let us clothe one another in compassion. Let us humbly seek wisdom through prayer, meditation, and reflection. Let us deeply listen to each other's stories of tears and laughter; patiently healing every injury, great and small; joyfully celebrating every kindness, great and small. Let us embrace each and every opportunity for compassion: every day, every place, every encounter. Let us clothe one another in compassion.

Compassion is empathy, feeling another person, animal, group's pain, joy, worries, concerns. Compassion is hypersympathetic. It inspires people to act on behalf of those they feel compassion toward. Mother Theresa, Ghandi, many Nobel Peace prizes are given to most compassionate individuals. Not everyone has the ability to feel compassion toward their fellow man or the suffering of earth's wild creatures, those should not be in positions of power. This must stop, allowing this rewards the few to exploit the many.

We need an active part in world compassion, a world where every human being take care of your neighbor, a world where everyone recognizes himself in others as part of the whole. This is not true compassion and pity, but as unconditional love.

Oh, Highest Reality, Creator, Sustainer, God—by any name in any language—we ask for a charted course toward compassion within our world and within our own hearts. May seeds of justice be carried on currents of compassion that move not only individuals, but also nations. May we remember our own imperfect, incomplete, changing self, circumstances, and capabilities, when we regard others. May we move through hopes and deeds, charted and uncharted, greeting one another, including all, in the ideals and efforts outlined in this Charter for Compassion.

Perhaps a beginning... As people of faith, God created us, male and female, in God's own image. Created and called to love God and to love one another, we are most faithful when our lives are filled with compassion.

We need a world of compassion in action, a world where every human cares about the others; a world where everyone recognizes himself in others as part of the whole. This is the real compassion not in a matter of Pity for the other but of Unconditional Love.

All the great religions sprang from a realization of the universal love and compassion emanating from our Creator and planted as a seed in the breast of every mortal. The time has come for us to nurture that seed, to give birth to our cherished dream of a just society, where all life is held sacred, and none are neglected or cast aside. The consequences of failure in this most noble of endeavors, for our generation and future generations, are too dark to contemplate. In this, humanities most fateful hour, we invite followers of all faiths or none to offer their unique contribution to the awakening of Compassion for All.

Comment: Although there is great beauty, insight and wisdom expressed in the many submissions listed here, I happen to like the boiler plate preamble example as it is. The language is clear in its simplicity and the message is to the point. I think the next section, "Affirmations", will deepen the charter's intent and will illustrate the essence of compassion.

It is good to have four comforts: a simple practice to unify everyone in a compassionate attitude, instructional media, qualified instructors and worldwide community with 24/7 support. Short moments of compassion, repeated many times, become automatic. Through these skillful means, all people are trained in compassion regardless of belief. In this way, compassion is empowered in each and every individual and the planet and its inhabitants are enriched with this most basic of human qualities.
